Discovering42 is using art and traditional hands on interactivity as a catalyst for engaging adults and children with physics, engineering and environmental issues.  The current exhibition is made almost entirely from waste or unwanted object including the walls, floor and ceiling. Our society needs critical thinkers if we are going to solve our climate crisis and we feel it all starts with making science relevant and approachable, creating a space to experiment and inspiring people to feel they can contribute. We also acknowledge there is a need to get more girls interested in studying science and engineering and we have applied this in our visitor journey and design choices.

There is no dedicated science museum in Cornwall and a lack of child-friendly art venues. Informal learning spaces are a key way of connecting us with subjects that may seem boring or difficult on paper. Reimagining Reality is a pilot for a permanent community-led arts, science and sustainability museum in Cornwall.

Discovering42 is about empowering us all to come together and share ideas. We want people to feel like they can be an active part of visualising and creating solutions. We believe that we don’t need to have all the answers, we just need to want to make a difference and start somewhere. We want to create a culture that feels comfortable to experiemnt, make mistakes, learn and adapt as we go.

If you want to be part of the action, get in touch. There is so much to do and we would love you to be part of the team. You can be involved as little or as much as you like. Let’s have a chat to find out what you are passionate about, what you enjoy doing or would like to try out or develop!  We really look forward to hearing from you.
